Affordable Housing
The CCS Foundation is dedicated to supporting the programs of Catholic Community Services and to helping provide affordable housing in our community.
The Catholic Community Services Foundation’s Home Ownership Assistance Program is offered in partnership with the Marion County Housing Authority and meets all requirements of the HUD Section 32 homeownership program.
Marion County Housing Authority has identified 38 homes in Jefferson, Silverton, Mt. Angel, Salem, Woodburn, Mehama, Aurora, Turner and Aumsville. Most of the homes have three bedrooms, one or two baths, and attached one or two car garages. Built primarily during the 1970’s, the
homes will become available one or two at a time as current residents move, and will be completely refurbished to meet required HUD standards.
While this program is available to all eligible persons and families, our interest in offering this program is to help make the benefits of home ownership possible for:
• Foster parents.
• Parents actively trying to recover their children from protective custody.
• Families participating in Healthy Start.
• Young adults who have aged out of the foster care system.
• People with developmental disabilities.
Financial assistance and a number of supports are available to those who qualify.
To qualify you must:
• Be a first time home buyer [have not owned or purchased in the last five years].
• Have been continuously employed for at least one year prior to application.
• Earn at least $24,000 a year.
• Pass credit and criminal history checks.
• Be able to purchase home owners insurance.
• Be able to make a 3% down payment (assistance may be available for this).
• Attend required Homebuyer/Home Ownership classes.
• Maintain your new home as your primary residence, once acquired.
• Be or become a resident of Marion County.
